There was much baseball to be had this week, but the November Baseball Outreach is about much more than baseball. The morning and evening devotional times really makes this trip into part baseball outreach and part men’s conference.

Many of the men, over the past 6 years, have made significant decisions during the conference time. Some have repented from addictions, some have recommitted their marriages, and some have even been saved due to the powerful teaching of the Word.

One of the greatest joy’s this week was seeing men from all walks of life coming together to accomplish the work of evangelism through sports. We had everything from little leaguers to coaches, businessmen to Hall of Famer Gary Carter.

We saw over 1500 professions of faith this week. This presents the enormous task of follow up. Please be praying for our staff and the 25 pastors who will be hard at work with this task over the next several weeks.

Thank you to all who prayed and supported us to make this week a success.

SCORE is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. This video was made to show at our celebration banquet. Just thought some of you might enjoy watching it.

Please be praying for our Annual Baseball Outreach starting Wednesday (Nov. 18). We are conducting 5 clinics a day. We have over 200 men here participating in the event. There will literally be thousands that will hear the Gospel this week. Please pray for soft receptive hearts.

Thanks to our dear ministry partners at Stonecrest Community Church (in Warren, NJ), Pastor Vernon now has a medical clinic, a library and a fresh coat of paint on his church building. Catalina de Bani (where the church in located) is a community built along a highway system and has very little to offer the community. The new clinic and library are significant tools for he and his congregation to reach their community.

Stonecrest is also helping Pastor V. and family build a new house. Most of the block is now laid, but there is a lot more to do to complete the job. Interested in working on or donating to this project? Contact me on facebook or my e-mail (ryan@scoreinternational.org) for more details.

These are two new chuch buildings built in June and July. Both have since been painted inside and out. One was built for us by Parkway Baptist Temple in TN and the other was built by CWE out of Tampa, FL.

Our church planters have been very busy this year as they have planted 5 new churches and have about 8 disciples training to be pastors and workers in the future church plants. Antonio is a Dominican who was save at Word of Life camp in 2008. He was discipled by our team and is not being commissioned to start a church plant in a new village this year! Please be in prayer for a building for our church plant in Juan Dolio. It is still meeting in the SCORE Complex.

Currently we are back in the States traveling on the East Coast presenting SCORE’s ministry to churches and individuals. We have been in Virginia, Vermont, New York, and West Virginia. We will be back in the Elkhart area during the month of October. What a blessing to see new believers being baptisted. Seeing this man from the Los Fundos church plant (pastored by SCORE missionary Nathan Jude) is particularly encouraging because very few men in the villages are interested in church.

There were 5 from the Los Fundos church and 1 from the Monte Largo church who gave testimony and followed in obedience to Christ in baptism on Sunday.

While my brother (Ray) was in Peru, my dad had a week off from work so he came down to visit us in the DR. We had several projects for him to help us with. Due to many bugs and 1 tirantula in the house, we made our priority to put screens on all the windows and to screen in our back porch. The porch ended up being a bigger job than I had expected. Even though we bought treated wood, it would not have been a good idea to let it sit in puddles of water, so we had to pour some concrete. Yes, I had joy of mixing the conrete and dad poured and leveled it (all in the rain!).

It was a joy to have my dad down for the week. I enjoyed working side by side with him and showing him around a little bit.

We meet a lot of people through out the year (about 3500) so we get pretty used to saying goodbye. It can be hard to do at times especially with our interns who spend anywhere from 3 weeks to 6 months. Jara is from our hometown and has been down for 5 months. Megan began meeting with here weekly for discipleship since we arrived in March, so it was difficult for us to say goodbye this last week. We miss Jara already as she was a very hard worker.

The foundation for our new church plant in San Pedro is really starting to take shape. In the previous update I shared that property had been prepped, but now the trenches are dug, the footers have been poured, the floor level is being layed and the bathroom walls are all up. As I also said previously, we just have to have the foundation ready for CWE by early July and they will take it from there.

Last week it was our privilege to once again host Shanna (Zolman) Crossley and Sidney Spencer. These girls traveled with us in 2004 (DR) and in 2005 (CR) when they were playing under Pat Summit at the University of Tennessee. They are both currently playing in the WNBA. Shanna is at the San Antonio Silver Stars and Sidney was traded (while in the DR) from the Los Angeles Sparks to the New York Liberty.

The above picture is at Monday’s press conference to announce the week’s activities. Shanna and Sid joined King College’s women’s basketball team to help run basketball clinics and play games. The WNBA players spent time mentoring and challenging the college girls to walk with the Lord, play hard and to use whatever platform God gives them in their lives. We saw several Dominican girls give their lives over to Christ during the week and now all those who gave us their contact information will be followed up by a local church in the coming weeks.

On Saturday, May 2, we hosted our very first soccer tournament at the Rawlings Complex. Rawlings built us 2 baseball fields, a softball field, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts and a soccer field. On the same property, a camp that will sleep 900 is under construction and next year construction will start on the Bible Institute.

We saw 12 young people accept Christ as their personal Savior as a result of this tournament. The great things about it is that this is a ministry of our church planting team and these teens will be followed up and discipled by those in our local church.
