1/22/10 Update

Thank you everyone for your prayers and perhaps donations to SCORE’s relief effort in Haiti. We are a bit taxed and worn already from all the extra work, but God is good! He has done some great things that we want to share with you.

Many things are happening and it would be impossible to share everything, so I will just share two things with you at this time. As you may imagine there are many orphans in Haiti and that number has dramatically increased with the events from this last week. Case de Luz (House of Light), a Christian orphanage for handicap children and ministry partner of SCORE in the DR, has been granted permission to receive 50 orphaned Haitian children. One of our groups from Buffalo, NY went out and bought additional cribs and food to help accommodate the coming children. SCORE has the privilege to help CdL pick up these kids and bring them back to the DR. Luordis, Director of CdL, is interested in taking the kids that no one else wants- particularly the handicap.

There is much help needed in Haiti right now and in the future. We recognize that food and medicine will not satisfy mankind forever. We also recognize that God’s Word is the solution for man’s greatest need. We made contact with Faith Comes by Hearing Ministries who produces an electronic Bible called the Proclaimer. The battery lasts up to 15 hours and has a built in solar panel and crank to recharge itself. FCBH is donating 100 Proclaimers in Haitian Creole and 15 in Arabic (for UN peacekeeping soldiers from Jordan)! This allows those who do not have their own copy of Scripture, cannot read, or cannot see to read to be able to listen to the whole New Testament in their own language. We are really excited because we know that God’s Word will not return void.

Please continue to pray for the ministry that is going on both here in the DR and Haiti. A medical team will be traveling to the boarder town of Jimani, DR on Tuesday (26th) to work at the Good Samaritan Hospital.
